Artist’s Statement
 The heart of my work is blending textures and designs from cultural references and combining traditional
practices with modern feminine influences. I look for rhythm in patterns and symbols.
Native people view the self as an extension of nature, an organic part of the earth. I use wood, with its inconsistencies, to emulate that spirituality.
In this series, the women represent their pasts, as viewed by modern society. Proud and aging, I portray them wearing their experiences in the form of a crown.
Never looking past their position, resolute, but with dignity and spirit.
